The Winter Snuggles

Mew Ling has ’em.  I like it when she gets the winter snuggles.  In warmer weather she sleeps on her rug at the foot of my bed.  When it gets colder, she curls up really close to me under my right arm.

She also finds her way onto my lap when the house is chilly.  She’s not really a lap cat.  She likes to be somewhere close to me, but not generally on me.  She’s much more lappy in the winter.

And she has her chair by the fireplace that she snuggles into when I have a fire lit.  There’s something so comforting and homey about a cat by the fire.  When the fire is burning down for the night, she moves in very close on the hearth and sits right up next to the screen with her eyes closed looking so contented.  I wonder what she’s thinking when she’s sitting there just soaking up the last bit of heat.  I bet she’s wondering what she did to deserve such a great life.

I know just what she means…

Mew Ling seems a very wise cat indeed!

A kitty poem for Mew Ling for Christmas!

    Squatter’s Rights
    (by Richard Shaw)

    Listen, kitten,
    Get this clear,
    This is my chair.
    I sit here.

    Okay, kitty,
    We can share;
    When I’m not home,
    It’s your chair.

    Listen cat
    How about
    If I use it
    When you’re out?
