Rated PG

What gets a movie a PG rating these days?  What qualifies a movie for a PG rating in the first place?  The MPAA  has set forth the ratings system that we are accustomed to.  The G, PG, PG-13, etc. system.  Click the MPAA link above to read what each of the ratings means.

And then scratch your head and wonder how a family friendly movie like “Facing the Giants” earned its PG rating.  How?  It is “heavily laden with messages from one religion.”

Violence, nudity, sex, foul language….and Christianity.  That’s apparently what gets you a PG rating these days.

I do wonder, if the very same movie had heavy Scientology or Hindu or Islamic overtones, would it have garnered the rating as well?  Doubt it.  If it had, what THAT would have garnered is protest in the streets, I am sure.
