I don't know if it was Saturday 2000 years ago when Christ lay in the tomb. But it's Saturday today. And I am thinking how that "Saturday" all those years ago must have been the darkest of days for those who believed that Christ had come to be their king, and to save them. And now, here He lay with all their hopes and dreams, dead, and sealed in a tomb. "What just happened????", his followers must have been asking. "We were so sure he had come to be king". "How did we get it so wrong?"
And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre. (Mark 15:46, KJV)
It MUST have been THE saddest day. They had no true understanding of what was to come.
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? (Matthew 21:42, KJV)
